After he missed Tuesday’s loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Sacramento Kings will once again have the services of their starting center. DeMarcus Cousins will play Friday against the Los Angeles Lakers after sitting out Tuesday’s game with a sprained right ankle.
Kings head coach Michael Malone said that Cousins looked fine in his return to the practice court Thursday. Malone also noted that Cousins received additional treatment and put in some extra individual work with coaches on the Kings’ day off on Wednesday.
Teammate Greivis Vasquez also thought Cousins looked solid in workouts Thursday. Vasquez is not concerned that the injury will have any effect on the 23-year-old center’s performance Friday versus the Lakers.
“He looks good,” Vasquez said of Cousins. “He’ll get his points and his rebounds tomorrow for sure.”
Cousins rarely misses games due to injury. Tuesday’s contest against the Thunder was just the third outing in his four-year career that Cousins missed to injury. The last instance of Cousins missing games due to health came last season when he sat out two games on Mar. 13 and 17 because of a left-quad contusion.
