Denmon could have backup plan in place

Marcus DenmonAfter San Antonio Spurs draftee Marcus Denmon underwhelmed Spurs fans during the Vegas Summer League, many expected that he’d make it to training camp and then be re-routed.

Go directly to Austin. Do not pass go, do not collect $200.

But it appears Denmon could already have a backup plan in place if he doesn’t earn a roster spot with the Spurs, likely earning more than the less-than-lucrative D-League contract with the Toros.

According to CatchandShoot.com, French basketball club Elan Chalon is expected to lose guard Malcolm Delaney, and their contingency plan would involve signing Denmon if he doesn’t stick with the Spurs.

Denmon averaged 5.4 points and 1.6 assists per game in 14.6 minutes per game in Summer League play but drew praise from coach Jacque Vaughn.

Elan Chalon has played host to other notable NBA players in the past, including Thabo Sefolosha, Udonis Haslem and Tracy Murray.
