Getting out and enjoying the Fourth of July on a boat is a good time.
Getting ticketed for being where you’re not supposed to be? Not so much. Derek Jeter found that out the hard way.
Monday, while the country celebrated its independence, Jeets hit the water outside his Davis Islands, Florida home with his fiancé Hannah Davis. One problem… the former New York Yankees captain cruised into restricted waters around Tampa’s MacDill Airforce Base.
Oops.
According to reports, Air Force security forces stopped Jeter and his 2015 Yamaha fiberglass pleasure boat just before 5:30pm Monday and wrote the future Hall of Famer a ticket that carries a $250 fine plus a $30 processing fee.
And, because the internet, it wasn’t long until a copy of said ticket ended up online.

It’s unclear how the picture of the ticket (which has since been deleted) got to the Boston Red Sox fan who posted the picture to Facebook, but the Air Force is handling the matter.
“This action is totally inconsistent with Air Force values and the responsible Airman will face the appropriate disciplinary action,” MacDill spokesman Terry Montrose. “We sincerely apologize to Mr. Jeter for any inconvenience.”
