Derrick Ward CUT by Bucs not totally unexpected, Clayton to be next?
Derrick Ward was released from the Bucs today (8-31)
With the news coming in this afternoon that Derrick Ward has been Cut by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the only questions that come to mind are… what took so long? and when is it Michael Clayton’s turn? Ward, who showed up for Bucs camp in super style, but overweight according to HC Raheem Morris, disapointed coaches and fans alike with his performance in the first two preseason games. In the first one, he blamed his problems on the Mud and the weather, while little used backup Kareem Huggins excelled under the same playing conditions in the same game times. Even vs the Jaguars this past week, Wards had a few good runs, but when you look back at the tape, were they really that good? Should not any decent NFL calibur running back not perform in that situation? To be honest the same holes probably would have produced double the yardage for Huggins or Cadillac Williams. With Michael Clayton not even seeing the field, could the message be any plainer for him?
