The 2009 Pro Bowl rosters have been released and there is anything but a shortage of Tennessee Titans headed to Honolulu.
Albert Haynesworth, Cortland Finnegan and Kevin Mawae were named as starters and three other Titans; Chris Johnson, Michael Roos and Chris Hope, were selected as reserves.
For those who are counting, that’s a grand total of six Tennessee Titans headed to the game’s annual all-star game in the Aloha State.
Albert Haynesworth DT
Haynesworth’s selection to the Pro Bowl was a no-brainer. He’s been perhaps the league’s best interior lineman for the last two years and as a result of his dominant 2008 performance, he will most likely be an unrestricted free agent in 2009.
Sign him up to a long-term deal, Bud!
Cortland Finnegan CB
It’s a pleasure to see Cortland Finnegan recognized for his outstanding play. He’s one of the league’s up-and-comers at the CB position and despite his penchant for personal fouls, the Titans are lucky to have him.
Great move by the front office for locking Finnegan up with a contract extension several months ago.
Kevin Mawae C
Kevin Mawae is equivalent to a fine wine: he just gets better with age. This will be his 7th trip to the Pro Bowl and his first since 2004.
Chris Hope S
I’m a little disappointed about Michael Griffin not being named as a reserve, but the selection of Chris Hope is a great consolation prize.
Chris has overcome a scary neck injury that ended his 2007 season and emerged as a playmaker and a leader on the 2008 version of the “Tennessee Tyrants.”
Chris Johnson RB
Despite a lukewarm response to him being drafted in the 1st round of last year’s draft, Chris Johnson has quickly become a fan-favorite as a result of his sensational speed and playmaking ability.
Dash is well-deserving of a Pro Bowl bid during his rookie season and we can only hope that this is the first of many more trips to Hawaii to come for CJ.
Michael Roos LT
Last but not least, Michael Roos was also named as a reserve on the AFC Pro Bowl squad. Roos is a quite the technician at left tackle and has quickly emerged as one of the league’s best at his position.
Congrats to all six of the Titans’ representatives on the AFC Pro Bowl roster!
