After practice on Tuesday the Lions got with a local golf pro Bob Krause to work on their golf games. As expected, the skills positions were better than the linemen and picked up on the pointers Krause provided much easier. As you can see, Gosder Cherilus’ swing looks more like Charles Barkleys’ swing than a competent golf swing. In the end, I think the consensus was that the Lions should probably stick to football.
Apparently, Matthew Stafford is pretty good, though, but not nearly as good as Cowboys’ QB Tony Romo, who’ll play in a U.S. Open qualifier next week. When The Detroit News asked Stafford if he’d ever get as good as Romo, Stafford replied with somewhat of a balltap jab at Tony Romo:
“No, I just enjoy playing,” Stafford said. “He’s a lot better than I am.”
It doesn’t have to stay that way, does it?
“It does,” he said, smiling as he motioned to the practice field behind him. “Because I spend too much time here.”
Seems like he’s saying, “I’m sorry, I don’t have time for these silly games, because I’m too busy trying to be an amazing NFL QB. If I saw myself dressed like that, I’d kick my own ass. Talk to my neighbor the accountant, huge ass, probably a great golfer.”
