The NHL reports that Andre Deveaux has been suspended, without pay, for three games for delivering an illegal check to the head of Florida forward Tomas Fleischmann on Wednesday night.
Here is Brendan Shanahan’s explanation…
…Deveaux could have easily gotten double digit games in my opinion, so he is very lucky.
Meanwhile, the Rangers have announced that Erik Christensen and Anton Stralman along with the suspended Deveaux will all be scratched tonight.
Meaning, just-recalled forwards Carl Hagelin and John Mitchell will be in the lineup as well as Jeff Woywitka.
Here’s John Tortorella on the two new forwards getting into the line-up…
“Those two guys have played very well down in Hartford and I don’t see much in Erik’s game right now,” explained Tortorella. “We want to change, and I think Hagelin will add some speed to our team—and our team is playing a little slow right now. And Mitchell has been one of their best players down there the past few weeks.”
…Hagelin in the line-up AND no EC. Did Christman come early this year?
