This news came out way later than anyone would have expected, but word is that the Arizona Diamondbacks offered SS Stephen Drew to the Tigers for Rick Porcello. Naturally, Dave Dombrowski’s response went something along the lines of (::channeling Drew Magary::), “FUCK AND NO.”
At Bless You Boys, Kurt argues why the trade would have been a good move for the Tigers, citing Drew’s breakout season vs. Porcello’s down year as a big factor. I’m leaning the other way on this: I don’t know if Drew is as good as the numbers say, and Porcello (who is 21, remember) is only going to get better.
