D-Backs Are Looking for a New Racing Legend

The Arizona Diamondbacks are looking for someone to fill Randy Johnson’s sizable sneaks.

However, they’re not looking to replace the Hall of Famer in the bullpen, the team is in need of candidates to try out to be their next Racing Legend.Taking its cue from the Presidents Race at Nationals Park and Milwaukee’s famous Sausage Race, the D-backs Legends Race features Mark Grace, Matt Williams, Luis Gonzalez and Johnson…complete with mullet.

And if you meet the criteria…it just might be you.

But it’s a lot tougher than you might think.

“Probably the most valuable piece of information to know is that it’s not easy, and the heads are not exactly light,” said Benjamin Christensen, who spends his baseball season running around O.co Coliseum as Dennis Eckersley’s mascot doppelganger. “If you’re going to apply, be sure to put in some work before getting an audition. Go running! Get your ass in some kind of shape before you make yourself look like an idiot in front of over 20,000 people.”

“Winning the race is not the most important thing to take away from each day, it’s whether the fans are entertained,” Christensen continued. “The more fun you have out there, the more fun they’ll have.”
