Now that the 2012 season is over, the Minnesota Vikings and their fans have turned their attention to the 2013 NFL Draft. This week was the first step in that long process, as many college players are showcasing themselves (with shirts on, apparently, which will do them ABSOLUTELY no good, I promise you) for various NFL teams in hopes of being drafted at the Senior Bowl.
Vikings.com has provided good coverage on several of these players fans should watch. Names such as Aaron Dobson, WR from Marshall, Jonathan Jenkins, DT from Georgia, and many others have become hot commodities. Naturally, players at positions like wide receiver, defensive tackle, or line backer all make sense for the Vikings. When you're looking at positions of need on this team, these would largely be the greatest of them.
But of note is that the staff apparently is keeping their eye on the quarterback position as well. This is particularly interesting considering the up and down performance of incumbent starter Christian Ponder in 2012, as well as the lackluster game from Joe Webb in the playoffs. Could an eye on a new quarterback mean a change is coming? And if so, will it be to the starter or the back-up position? And who would this player be?
Purple Jesus Diaries may have your answers.
Following is video we have obtained from Senior Bowl practices that show one of these quarterbacks that has allegedly caught the attention of the Minnesota Vikings staff. As you watch, you'll notice several features that stand out from this prospect, which make him an attractive player for the Vikings. Watch the video below and we'll break it down afterwards:

Outstanding highlight film. Let's take a closer look to better understand what the Vikings are seeing here:
– This prospect's form is much more inline with what the Vikings have come to expect from their passers over the years. The hop-skip toss is reminiscent of Tarvaris Jackson, and the way the ball hits the grass on the way to it's destination offers glimpses of Donovan McNabb as well. Bringing this player on the team would keep that continuity going.
– He's obviously an educator. This highlight film showcases not only his throwing motion, but his ability to teach. This Vikings team is a young team, especially on offense, so having a quarterback who is willing to give some information back and forth is very important to the overall football IQ of the team. He may even show Ponder a thing or two!
– Clearly, he values safety. Using Volkswagen product placement helps us understand that this quarterback will know how to protect things, like the football or his own health, by sliding when running, encouraging his offensive linemen to better pass protection, and much more. Safety leads to longevity in football players, especially quarterbacks.
So what do you think? Is this someone who could fit in with this Vikings squad? Are you looking forward to having him wear purple? Let us know in the comments.
