No. 12 Georgetown rallied after being down by as many as 19 to beat No. 13 UConn yesterday in college basketball action. It’s hard to tell if the Georgetown Hoyas won from listening to their announcer’s reaction. What a mellow and utterly boring dude, that Rich Chvotkin.
Fooled ya! That’s his signature call.
Depending on how a game ends, he might say it up to 17 times, as he did at the end of the regional semifinal victory against Vanderbilt — always at the top of his voice.
“It is spontaneous,” he says. “I don’t count them. You just get caught up and ‘boom,’ it’s a release, a steam valve. I just feel the emotion and let it flow.”
