The Dodgers took the rubber match Wednesday night, thanks–again–to catcher Russell Martin’s bases clearing double in the first, to spot LA starter Brad Penny with enough run support. The Dodgers take their home series, 2-1, equalling the Brewers’ record against the Dodgers in the first series of the season.
But every team in the NL Central, except St. Louis, also lost Wednesday night.
But the Brewers are still in first, and now face the Padres for three in San Diego over the weekend…since I don’t have time (unfortunately) to check how the Brewers have done against the Padres, I can tell you that the Crew faces pitching coach Mike Maddux’s brother, Greg, Friday night, sending Dave Bush out…the Brewers have gone back to wearing their dark blue unis for almost every game, but the Padres like to wear dark blue unis, too…the Padres are just behind the Dodgers in the NL West at 26-20, good in that the Brewers are getting some of their tougher opponents out of the way early.
