WWE Superstar Dolph Ziggler recently spoke to Chris Van Vilet about a number of topics, both personal and professional. One of those topics was All Elite Wrestling, the new promotion founded by Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks.
Speculation has run rampant online that Ziggler could be headed to AEW when his WWE contract is up. But is there any truth to the the rumors that The Showoff could indeed sign with the new company at some point?
[lawrence-related id=873115]“I wouldn’t say I would be like a next big signing, I would be like the big signing, I would have to say. But I have some other things going on at the moment but I mean, that should always be an option for anybody. Especially someone like me, who’s been around a long time.
You never know, I think it would be great, I think it’d be a great addition to that company, which seems to be for true wrestlers who love the sport and the business. It’s a great idea.”
Ziggler certainly seems to be onboard, at least with the notion, of joining AEW. This doesn’t mean that he has indeed spoken to anyone in All Elite Wrestling specifically about a job but he’s obviously open to the idea.
Dolph also said he’s not currently under a traditional WWE contract, that it’s more of a “handshake” type of arrangement, which means it may be even easier for him to eventually leave Vince McMahon’s company for AEW.
But what about the rumors that WWE actually offered Dolph a backstage role, possibly as a producer?
“If WWE wanted to keep me around, it would be to be in the ring, for now. Producing I could see happening 10 years down the line, but I don’t know why I wouldn’t be doing some other stuff first.
One day down the line, that could be something. But I’m very much not interested in that.”
While Ziggler’s immediate future in 2019 may be up for debate, it’s evident that both WWE and AEW are moving forward. Despite which path he chooses to take, Dolph Ziggler definitely has options ahead of him this year.
