The Miami Dolphins have added some wide receiver depth by signing former Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Griff Whalen to an undisclosed contract. Whalen joins Jarvis Landry, DeVante Parker and Kenny Stills in a deep receiving core.

Whalen, 26, went undrafted out of Stanford in 2012 and signed with the Colts, where he spent the past four seasons, including some time on the practice squad. Whalen developed immediate chemistry with his college teammate Andrew Luck and earned a spot on the team thanks to injuries and suspensions.
Whalen has three touchdowns and 488 receiving yards in his NFL career. He also served an important role as a return specialist, totaling 1,021 return yards in his career.
The Miami Dolphins will likely use Whalen in a similar capacity to what the Colts used him for, in a sense he will fill a void on special teams and as the fourth wide receiver.
