Dom Rhodes is the epitome of a ‘Classic Colt.’ He joined the team in 2001 as an undrafted rookie free agent. After the horrific knee injury suffered by Edgerrin James, Rhodes stepped in and posted 1,104 yards rushing. He was the first undrafted running back to run for 1,000 yards in his rookie season. Dom spent the next several years as a jack-of-all-trades for the Colts. He was the backup running back, a kick returner, and a special teams player. Whatever he was asked to do, he did. His kickoff return for a touchdown against the Chargers in 2004 was a key play in one of the most exciting Colts’ wins of the decade.

After the departure of James, Dominic became the starting running back, filling that role in all 16 regular season games in 2006. Once the playoffs arrived, Dom became ‘the closer,’ picking up most of his carries later in games. Throughout the Colts’ 2006 run, Rhodes picked up key first downs late in games. The culmination of his career in blue and white was the Super Bowl. Dom rushed for 113 yards and a touchdown to lift the Colts to victory. He earned the privilege of filming the iconic “I’m going Disney World!” commercial after the game. After a year in Oakland, he returned to the Colts for the 2008 season, and then randomly returned at the end of the 2010 season thanks to a pile of injuries to Colts running backs.  In three games, he averaged 4.6 YPC and posted 98 yards rushing against the Raiders.
