God damn. I can’t believe this happened:
The Cleveland Cavaliers have agreed to send Kyrie Irving to the Boston Celtics in a deal for Isaiah Thomas, league sources told The Vertical.
The Celtics are sending Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic and Brooklyn’s 2018 first-round pick to Cleveland, league sources told The Vertical.
Irving has agreed to waive his trade kicker to complete the deal, league source said.
Irving requested a trade July 21 after meeting with the Cavs, and his status has been a constant storyline this offseason.
I know what you’re thinking: Did Danny Ainge really have to give up that Brooklyn pick?
Yes. Unless you wanted to move Jayson Tatum or Jaylen Brown.
I know it hurts. I’m okay with this deal. For starters, there are a lot of questions about Isaiah’s long term health and his contract demands.
Oh yeah, and Kyrie Irving is freakin’ awesome. He’s also excited to join the Celtics:
Irving thrilled w/ joining Celtics and they'll have great chance to eventually re-sign him. Boston made deal with strong belief he'll stay.

Isaiah has been great. We will miss him. He deserves more recognition in another post.
Here’s some reaction from around the league:
If trade goes through: Tremendous deal for Boston. Franchise point guard joins a team ready to fight for East crown.

Kyrie Irving recruited Gordon Hayward in the summer of 2014 to have him come join him in CLE. Now in the summer of 2017 he joins GH in BOS.

The Celtics lost four of five starters from a team that went to the ECF, traded No. 1 pick, added Hayward, Kyrie, Tatum. Wild, wild summer.

Kyrie Irving has 2 years and player option for 3rd year left on contract. He'd better stay in Boston after what the Celtics gave up for him.
