The reports on Pierce's knee have been both dire and dismissive. But now, according to the Globe, it looks like we're slowly going back to the original diagnosis: Pierce will miss this road trip.

Pierce could make the trip West on his own, it is "highly doubtful" he
will do so, president of basketball operations Danny Ainge said in a
text message Saturday.
Ainge said Pierce's return is not expected before the Celtics play host to Toronto Jan. 2.
The mere fact that he COULD have returned is enough to make me feel fine about waiting a week for him to come back. Why rush it now?
