Don’t tell me there was no talent on this team: Bucs at Packers proved otherwise

bucsBucs players showed at Green Bay they are NOT talentlessYou can say what you want to about the talent level on the Bucs, and if you feel its very low, and Mark Dominik is a horrible GM now because of it, I have to warn you that you may change your mind next year.
All I can say is….
Tampa Bay at Green Bay.
If Kellen Winslow catches that two point conversion, the Bucs take the Packers very close to overtime, late in the 4th quarter tied. Only two teams were able to do that to Green Bay this year, and the Bucs were one of them.

Mind you, the Bucs were in a hole 14-0 in that game too! But they fought back with great play from the offensive line, and very good play out of the defense that was absolutely terrible during the second half of the year.

Why?
Because they quit.
There is no longer any explanation about it, certain key players decided they didnt have it in them to play for either the Bucs, Raheem Morris, or one or more of the assistant coaches. And it snowballed as the season and the embarrasing losses rolled on.

So whats the point of all of this discussion anyways? The season is over right?

Well yes 2011 is thankfully behind us, but dont think for one moment that 2012 wont or cant be a playoff type season for the Bucs under the direction of a better coaching staff. The Bucs played well in the first half of the season, they beat New Orleans at Home, and Atlanta too. They were able to come back from 17-0 down to Minnesota and come back.

A new coaching staff will bring about a completely new change in all aspects of the team, but remember, there is talent here.

Be down on Josh Freeman if you want to, but it’s only going to last one year. I challenge anyone to find me a bust at QB, or an average QB, who had the kind of season Freeman did in 2010. It doesnt matter who the opposition was, when you throw 25 touchdowns and 6 interceptions in a full season without missing one game, your a good QB. A new staff, including a new Offensive Coordinator and QB Coach will all help Freeman out.

The Defense was terrible, but there will probably be no alligiance to any past Tampa Bay teams when a new staff takes over. That means no predisposition to call the defense the Tampa 2, or even use it. A new coach will have to evaluate these young players the Bucs have drafted and use them to their best ability.

The embarrasment of the 2011 season was on the Bucs coaching staff, and they paid for it with their jobs, not even one full day after the season ended. But for the Bucs to succeed, the OWNERS, the Glazers, are going to have to open up a little and remove the label on them as being cheap. They are going to have to spend a little bit and bring in some free agents, including some big ones.

Wide Receiver would be a good start, as would Linebacker.

So dont go far..this offseason is only beginning to get exciting as a new coach is chosen, then his staff, then Free Agency when we will see if the Glazers are serious about putting a winner on the field.
