Doubront Gets His First Win As Red Beats White!

The Red Sox were looking to win 4 in a row which would be the longest winning streak of the season.  Felix Doubront took the mound for the Red Sox against Humber who had just come off pitching a perfect game.  Felix pitched pretty well and Humber was not perfect on this night.

Felix Doubront once again pitched really well.  In terms of results and stuff, he’s leading the starting staff right now.  And this time Douby didn’t leave the mound with a huge lead to see the bullpen just give the game away.  Doubront gave up a single run in the 1st on a RBI double from Konerko.  Doubront gave up another run in the 3rd on an RBI single to Pierzynski.  Doubront would give up his final run in the 4th on a solo homerun to Viciedo.  Doubront had a high pitch count in the game, but other than that he looked pretty gosh darn good.  His line for the night was 110 pitches, 6 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 BBs, 2 Ks.  He did just what we needed him to and had himself a nice quality start.  And this time his bullpen help was Junichi Tazawa for 3 scoreless innings.  Tazawa pitched three so even though the game was not a save situation in terms of runs, Tazawa gets the save.  Tazawa has just looked spectacular since being called up.  In my opinion, Bobby V should start using him a lot more.

The Red Sox bats totally had Doubront’s back last night.  They hit early, they hit often.  The Red Sox scored Doubront two quick runs in the 1st inning on a RBI double from Gonzo and an RBI single from David Ortiz.  Both lefties went to the opposite field to get the Red Sox on the board.   In the 3rd, Kevin Youkilis hit a GRAND SLAM and then was followed with a HR from Saltalamacchia of his own.  Sox lead 7-1.  Salty went yard again in the 5th with a 2 run HR.  Sox lead 9-3.  I love all the offense from Youk and Salty, who many fans and analyst were saying they might not be long for the team if they continued to struggle at the plate.  Youk went 3 for 4 from the plate and Salty went 2 for 4.  It’s nice to see both of their bats warming up.  In the 9th, the Red Sox tacked on a final run when Ryan Sweeney hit an RBI single to have the Sox lead 10-3.

Red Wins!  White Loses!
