Felix Doubront left last night’s game with an apparent shoulder injury and the Sox announced today that they have placed him on the 15 day disabled list. Doubront was scheduled to have an MRI sometime today and while they haven’t announced the official results, it sounds like they saw enough to warrant placing him on the DL.
In a semi-related move, the Sox officially announced the signing of Stephen Drew for the remaining part of the 2014 season. Drew had his physical and was added to the 25 man roster, taking Doubront’s place as he headed for the DL. Stephen Drew will start the season in the minor leagues for a short stint before rejoining the Red Sox.
