Douchebags on Ebay- Vincente Marquez

Occasionally I will fend off from sports when I hear about a story that happens to me or someone close to me. This is the case of a Douchebag cheapskate on ebay who bids on a scanner from my friends ebay account, then tells her not to ship it unless she agrees to offer a price break because he saw one 10.00 cheaper.

She offers a 4.00 price break, but it all goes downhill from there! The dude claims the package arrived without a cable and with a missing ‘leg’. Oddly, the photo shows the ‘leg’ doesn’t belong there its an inclined area designed not to need a leg.

Does he want to return it? No. He files a claim and says he will keep it for 20 dollars refund. The ensuing emails are downright hilarious! Sit down when you read, because this guy is a piece of work right down to the bitter end!

I see that you are new on ebay…and everyone, including myself, was new on ebay at one time.

 

Buyers remorse is not a good reason to cancel a transaction on ebay. I not only sell but I buy items on ebay all the time. It says on the area where you make your purchase to make sure you understand your committing to a transaction.

 

You will always find something cheaper once you buy something, that happens every day in life. It happened to me last week, I purchased a glass for my iMac for 69 dollars plus shipping. the next day there was one FROM THE SAME SELLER for 40!

 

There are things to consider. Feedback for one. I sell good quality stuff.

Did you know this seller who is selling this item for ten dollars less has 10 negative feedbacks in the last year alone? With over 3000 feedback there is no telling how many more he has before that which ebay does not report.

 

Look at some of the feedback he has….

Sold a broken computer that dosnt work when he advertised excellent. Wow avoid

Item was smashed prolly because it was shipped in a bubble wrap envelope

Be careful. Item descriptions may not match Items received.

I received my shipment completely different about what I see on your picture!!!!

Worst eBay experience-inaccurate description and very unprofessional. Awful!!!

I have this thing packed up and ready to go, but I will be honest with you, I did not print the shipping ticket yet. I could lie to you and tell you I shipped it already and be done with it, but I prefer to be honest, something that other item’s seller clearly isn’t.

 

So you need to ask yourself is 10 dollars worth it?

Good Morning sir. I am not sure why the time on the message shows 5:00o’clock in the morning. I am in eastern standard time as you see in Michigan. It was last night about 12:00 when I emailed you.

In any case, my intention is not to cancel your order. I just simply asked you if you could do a price matching. My wife needs a scanner for work, but the employer will not cover it. As many folks we are struggling financially, so every dollar helps, and this expense wasn’t in our budget. Nonetheless, she needs it.

As you said I am new to this, and I never read any reviews. I suppose I just trust what the ad says it is. So I trust from what you say as well that you are a much better, and reliable seller and that of course is a plus. At the same time $10 difference to us is the difference between being able to buy some frozen chicken for supper or not.

Could you in any way at all do the price matching? We would greatly appreciate it, and keep you in mind for future purchases. Like I said my intention is not to cancel the transaction. Please make this happen. We truly need that scanner to make ends meat.

At this point I shipped the scanner with USB cable, drivers disk, and power cable. No Grey USB cable has ever been found in our home since this.

–       The scanner is also missing a leg. So it will be constantly out of balance.

Please show me a photograph of a missing leg, that scanner was on my desk and it never wobbled. Plus, the grey cord was the USB cord. There was a grey USB cord and two black power cords.

 

I will not be giving you 20 dollars, FULL retail value for a USB cord. I can tell you that right now. Please show me a photograph of the missing leg and send it via eBay so they see it. If you really do have a broken leg pack it all up and ship it back but I know I packed a grey USB cord with it. Also, pleSe check the box there was a lot of popcorn.

Hello. I have attached the missing leg so Ebay can see it. I have nothing to hide from Ebay. I am the one who was ripped off. I spoke to them earlier today. Believe me Ebay is plenty aware of the situation.

You should take a close look. Zoom in the picture, and you will notice the tear and wear right where the leg was supposed to be. This means that your leg had been missing for longer than a while. Whether you noticed or not is a different matter, but by looking at the terrible packaging you did to ship this thing, I wouldn’t be surprised at all.

The missing leg is the first thing I noticed after I pull the scanner out. I think it is hard to miss a black leg against light gray.

Furthermore, I checked the box thoroughly. I completely emptied, and there is no gray wires or any other wire except the power cord otherwise I wouldn’t be bothering you with it.

Let me know you last stand on this matter on your next email. I am not going to be dealing with this much longer. Otherwise it ships back to you tomorrow or Monday.

Im still waiting for a response from you. I need to see some photos of the leg and the other legs to see what your talking about. I did not have an issue with a missing leg, I never would have sold it without notifying you of it. Look at my feedback I’ve sold hundreds of items on here.

 

Also I’ve looked everywhere and I cannot find the grey USB cable. It must have shipped with the package, I only had one grey USB cable here, but if I really did somehow not include it I will ship you out a USB cable immediately.

 

But I have not heard from you since my response last night. I need to know whats going on. Im not in the habit of ripping people off nor selling shoddy merchandise. But things happen, they happen during shipping.

Hello. I responded to you yesterday including the photo, and it is on record. I will attach the photo again to this response.

Let me say that your last 2 responses are not compelling. I wasn’t trying to be difficult at all from the beginning. I was just trying to get a fair price, which you know as well as I, much better know, that you didn’t have either a fair price or a fair service. And let me tell you why:

1 – I ask you to hold the order until we agree on the price and I quote from my initial message “Please stop this order for now.”and you went ahead and shipped the order anyways.

2 – My reason for putting the order on hold was that shortly after I order your item my daughter realized that the same exact item was much cheeper from a seller in Utah. Then You rumble about how bad that seller record was on shipping things and such to try to make me change my mind. Well that tactic of throwing dirt at the next guy without facts on a specific case base is not good for someone’s reputation.

The fact is that all the rumbling you did about your good selling practices and shipping have surfaced and the grade I would give you is no more than a “F”. You didn’t even wrap the item in a plastic bag considering it is an electronic.

You shipped the item in a box with was basically the same size as the item – leaving basically no room for padding where most need it. And you shipped an item that wasn’t as described – and let quote your ad”No scratches or defects- in perfect working order- guaranteed!”. Well that is far from the truth.

3 – You have lied from the beginning, and I can prove it. Your surprise at the broken leg, and your denial that the USB cable wasn’t there.

So with that said it seems to me that you have had a fraudulent, and misleading operation here from the very beginning.

I will not deal with you any longer. It is either $20 refund or a return. $20 will cover usb cable and fixing the leg. That is all have. This has been the worst experience ever.

Your last email also says you’ll accept this scanner, for 20 dollars off. So your telling me the leg issue bothers you, but only if you can get it cheaper, then it won’t bother you.

 

If you need a USB cable let me know I will send you a USB Cable. I do not want this to carry on any more either.

 

Only you know the truth. When you set the scanner down, does it really wobble? or is it steady?

If its steady, shouldn’t you take the usb cable and complete the transaction like agreed?

 

If its not steady, then I am in the wrong , send it all back and Ill refund you fully as soon as I receive everything in good order.

 

Lets stop with the threats though please. If your on ebay, your an adult, lets work like two adults.

One more thing that needs to be absolutely clear. I haven’t been able to even test the scanner since there is no USB cable. In fact I haven’t even test power.

In the event that you decide to refund the $20, me keeping the scanner is all contingent to me getting the USB cable, and testing the Scanner. If there is anything wrong with the scanner itself, which wouldn’t be surprising to me at all then the scanner would be returned to you for a full refund.

Hello, this is the second time I reply to your agreement of refunding the $20 for the missing and broken items on the scanner you sold me.

I haven’t seem follow up on the course of actions you seem to be agreeing just a couple of days ago. It seem clear then that you were willing to refund the $20 in exchange for not having negative feedback as you explicitly put it in your e-bay mail to me. And like I said in reply to your ebay mail, I would not leave negative feedback for you if you proceeded with the refund.

I haven’t seem any $20 refund anywhere, and Paypal hasn’t heard from you either. Therefore the resolution is not moving forward.

If you like me to ship the item back to you I expect you to pay for the shipping as I didn’t create this problem. The shipping is about $18.

So really as far as I am concern the only 2 choices here is a $20 refund, or $18 refund to cover the shipping back to you.

If we cannot have a common sense resolution, this is what is going to happen.

You can be certain that the feedback I will write on your account will make folks think twice about ordering from you. I will make certain of that.

Furthermore, I will start a dispute with my credit card company, and that will certainly complicates things for you.

I am in hope that none of the above is need it, but really you are the decider.

Jane, first of all my apologies, but Paypal told me you had not responded – hence my reaction. That is all I got from them after spending almost an hour on the phone. I repeatedly ask them to check for your response.

I told them we were kind of in agreement as of last Friday, and ask them if they were sure you had not responded.

They were firm on the “NO response from you”. I was upset, not just because of that, but the whole situation in general. Sure I could have asked you what was going on, but instead I assumed you weren’t cooperating any longer because of what they told me. I couldn’t possibly know you emailed them, but they didn’t see it or get it.

 

As you said in the prior email, lets just get this resolved and move on.

Please contact them tomorrow and work it out with them so we can put this mess behind. Make sure to tell them to email me with the final resolution so I have record of it, and so we can move on.

There are 2 things you can do.

You can contact Paypal directly at 1-888-221-1161 with the case # PP-003-092-388-676 and tell them you accept issuing the refund.

Paypal is also emailing you one more time as per my request, so you can reply to their email as instructed to process the refund.

Either way, this is the only way this will get resolve. My dead line is tonight otherwise If this is not resolved technically by tonight regardless of your intentions I will be contacting my credit card company so the funds will continue to be hold until resolutions is achieved.

Under no circumstances I will deal directly with you as far as refunds or resolution. The trust factor is very poor.

So please resolve this quickly today so things don’t have to get uglier than they already are.

Let me explain a few things to you.

You don’t control anything. PayPal does. I don’t care what you do with your credit card company. When this is resolved either I will get about 20+ dollars put in my account, or the money will stay gone as it has been and I’ll get my scanner back in good order.

 

You can threaten to do whatever you want. You are under pay pals rules just as I am.

I don’t care which way this goes.

 

I’ve sent a direct email to paypal with the case number and my desire to accept the deal.

 

I’m not spending hours on the phone, I don’t have time for that.

 

Again, your money is already gone, so I don’t care if I get 20 back or the scanner.

Jane, the best way to resolve this amicably, as you said you wanted to, is to issue the refund quickly.

My dead line is tonight by 11:59pm Eastern Standard time. I have to fall within certain time line to notify my credit card if it comes to that, and the time I give you above is as much as I can give.

It takes no more than 5 min to get through Paypal. If you like to email them that is fine too (it will probably take longer). I don’t care how you do it as long as it is done by the time mentioned above. I will need to be technically notified one way or another as soon as it is done. Make sure to tell them to notify me right away so I don’t take further action that may not have to be taken.

I hope you can get this done, as I don’t want to go further with this unless I really have to.

The way it works is they will withdraw full amount right away, and ask questions later.
If you like to go that way, I suppose that is the way we will go.
I will not ship back item to you unless you pay for the shipping. This is a problem you create wires and accessories, and the send it with missing and/or broken parts. And then expect m Really?
My advice is to make sure the refund is process today. If you don’t I will bypass you, and co It is your choice really. I am sure paypal has email you again, and if not you have the phone take no more than 10 min.

Just respond to the email that ebay has sent you for a second time or call them. It probably Just communicate to then that you accept refunding the $20 to close the case. It is simple.

AT THIS POINT, PAYPAL CLOSED THE CASE, REFUNDED THE BUYER BUT EMAILED ME TO LET ME KNOW THAT DUE TO THE HISTORY OF MY ACCOUNT AND NATURE OF THIS CASE (WHAT A DOUCHEBAG THIS GUY WAS) THAT I WOULD NOT BE CHARGED FOR THE REFUND. SO 49.99 WAS REFUNDED TO ME.
