A glorious, despite being wet, morning in White Sulphur Springs, WV. That’s the home of the Greenbrier, in case you didn’t know. It’s glorious because Champ Bailey and Drew Brees are both in pads and have returned to practice. Bailey has been absent for two weeks and Brees close to that. Bailey is actually going through team drills, which is a really good sign, whereas Brees is doing side work for the most part. The fact that he’s in full pads is a sign of progress, though. That comes on the heels of a return from John Jenkins and Ben Grubbs yesterday. The Saints are starting to regain their health and getting some key contributors back, which is great to see. Jahri Evans also had encouraging news today, as well, as he was on the sidelines doing agility drills in shorts for the first time since his injury. Prior to that he had been completely absent from practice.
Whether or not Brees and Bailey play on Friday in New Orleans remains to be seen. The Saints have two practices today and two again tomorrow before travelling back to New Orleans and saying goodbye to West Virginia until next year on Thursday. Friday is of course the preseason home opener against the Titans.
