Tonight, the Drexel Dragons, who were trying to solidify the fifth seed in the CAA tournament were taking on a very bad 4-24 Old Dominion University Monarchs team. For the Dragons, they could not afford to have a slip up as they riding a two game losing streak in tonight’s game and has to get some kind of winning streak going heading into the CAA Tournament.

Again, the Dragons made it tough on themselves and took the game down to the wire but ultimately prevailed with an 81-77 victory. Believe it or not, the Dragons had a very comfortable lead in the first half being up as much as 15 points with the help of sophomore guard Damion Lee. Lee had 24 points in the first half for the Dragons and he could not be stopped as he also made six three pointers.

Then in the second half, the Monarchs tried to slow down Lee and it worked but coming to the rescue would be junior guard Frantz Massenat who finished the game with 22 points, six assists, and three blocks.

What was key for the Dragons to close out this game was free throw shooting. Drexel shot 79 percent from the foul line, Massenat and Lee both contributed to that by respectfully going 8 of 8 and 5 of 7.

Another thing that made this game good for the Dragons was that they only turned the ball over nine times; it also helps when Damion Lee had the game that he had tonight. Lee would finish the game with 34 points and 10 rebounds.

Drexel, who’s record is now 12-17 and 8-9 in the CAA will finish the regular season on Saturday night at 7:00 pm as they take on the UNC Wilmington Seahawks at the DAC.
