There were times this season when the Drexel basketball team only had 8 players that would dress for a game due to injuries.  Through all the injury struggles the Dragons recently were able to pull off a 6 game winning streak and climb back into the CAA conference race.

During yesterday’s loss to Northeastern the Dragons trailed by 14 points in the second half before rallying back and sending the game to overtime.  They would eventually fall in overtime by 10.  One of the stars has been Damion Lee who scored 30 points in the loss.

Lee will miss the rest of the season with a fracture in his right hand.  He is averaging 21.4 points per game which is good for 4th in the nation and 1st in the CAA.  He has scored 578 points this season and is now 10th on the career scoring list at Drexel with 1,538 points.  He is averaging 6.1 rebounds per game and shot 89% from the foul line.  He has made 38 out of his last 39 attempts.

He is the fourth member of the team to suffer a season ending injury so far this season.

The season is not over just yet.  Drexel will host Delaware on Thursday and then travel to William & Mary on Saturday.  The CAA tournament begins March 6th in Baltimore.  The Dragons are 10-17 overall this season and 8-8 in conference play which is good for 6th place.
