Drexel’s valiant comeback comes up short vs. VCU

Tonight in the CAA Men’s Championship final, the Drexel Dragons loss, 59-56 to the VCU Rams. This loss tonight ended the Dragons 19 game winning streak. The Dragons were down 16 going into the half and it looked like VCU was going to run away with this game but that did not happen. Just as George Mason did to VCU in the second half of the CAA semifinal yesterday, the Dragons did the same, as they made their own second half push.

Leading the Dragons push in the second half was Fr. G Damion Lee. Lee, who only had five points in the first half, erupted for 15 more points in the second half. Lee finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds.

For the Rams, G Darius Theus led the way with 16 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5 steals. VCU finishes the regular and conference tournament season (28-6, 15-3 CAA) and has an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. For Drexel, the waiting game begins as they will have to wait until Selection Sunday to find out if they have made the NCAA Tournament.
