Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry was named to the All-NBA Second Team today, receiving the most votes on that team (sixth overall) from the panel of NBA and local media.

Chris Paul and James Harden were the First Team selections at guard, which drew the ire of a lot of fans in #DubNation. A quick search on Twitter of “curry harden” revealed plenty of backlash that doesn’t take a lot of imagination to conjure up, especially when several publications such as SI.com had Curry on their mock First Team All-NBA selections.

Among the arguments Warriors fans used were Curry’s 72 games played compared to Paul, which amounted to 700 more minutes played.

Meanwhile, Harden is routinely criticized for his defense and even admitted in exit interviews that he needed to maintain focus while playing defense.

Justin Taylor of Trapped In Golden State offered up this comparison graphic:

125 voters cast ballots for All-NBA selections. The members of the media who could be considered local to Golden State were Ric Bucher of 95.7 The Game and Bleacher Report (where he’s listed as an NBA-wide reporter), Rusty Simmons of the San Francisco Chronicle, and Jim Barnett of CSN Bay Area.

All three gave Curry a First-Team vote, while Bucher was the only one of the three not to give Harden a vote. Simmons had Harden along with Curry on the First Team. Barnett gave Harden a vote for Second Team.

New Warriors head coach and former TNT analyst Steve Kerr gave Curry a Second-Team vote and had Paul and Tony Parker on his First Team.

Diamond Leung of the Bay Area News Group reported that two of the 125 voters did not give Curry a First-, Second-, or Third-Team vote.

It was the first time a Golden State Warrior had been named to the First or Second Team All-NBA since 1993-94 when Latrell Sprewell was named to the First Team.

The selection gave the Warriors back-to-back All-NBA selections for the second year in a row, as David Lee was named to the Third Team in 2013-14.

It was the first time the Warriors were represented with back-to-back All-NBA selections since Tim Hardaway‘s 1992-93 Third Team selection was followed up by Sprewell’s 1993-94 selection.
