Ducks Deflate Flyers Streak During Comeback Victory

So much for putting to bed those game closing issues.

After storming ahead in the first period with an early two goal lead, they watched that lead lead slip through their fingers like sand. By watched, I meant skated in slow motion while the Anaheim Ducks found another gear and blew by. This one was pretty ugly after that first intermission, with the Ducks slowly asserting themselves, and then finally by the third, dictating the pace. This was a problem the Flyers have endured, and for the last two games, both Flyers victories, it seemed to have gone away.

Not for long.

Goalie Steve Mason finally allowed three goals in a game this year, but he virtually stood on his head keeping this team in the game. With the way the Ducks were playing at about ten minutes to go, the score should have reflected something far worse, 4-2, 5-2 maybe. I tweeted early on after that first twenty minutes that the Flyers would have to sustain it, especially against a good team like the Ducks, and it proved to be true, much to my dismay. The feeling after this game was one of disgust, as it had all the makings of another blowout win for the Flyers. Matt Read scored four minutes in with an excellent pass from Wayne Simmonds from behind the net, only to be followed on the back end of the first with a solid power play goal from Vincent Lecavalier. It seems like these two are the usual suspects on the scoring sheet as of late. Claude Giroux snagged another assist, but his goal scoring woes continue.
