Rodney Hood will no longer work out for the Sacramento Kings on Saturday. The Kings announced Friday afternoon that the 21-year-old swingman out of Duke is being replaced in tomorrow’s workout by JaKarr Sampson of St. John’s.
Despite the scheduling change, the former Blue Devil is expected to still visit Sacramento at some point. The Kings plan on finding another date and time for Hood to work out before team officials.
Hood had reportedly been scheduled to work out for the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday as well. According to Darren Wolfson of KSTP-TV in Minneapolis, that workout is rescheduled for Monday. He also has a workout scheduled sometime next week with the Charlotte Hornets, per Spencer Percy of fellow TrueHoop Network affiliate Queen City Hoops.
Hood is projected to be a mid to late lottery pick in this year’s draft. He’s already had pre-draft workouts in Chicago, Denver, Phoenix, Philadelphia, Atlanta and Orlando. In one season at Duke, the 6’8, redshirt sophomore averaged 16.1 points, 2.1 assists, 1.5 turnovers and 3.9 rebounds in 32.9 minutes per game.
Sampson, Hood’s replacement, is a 6’9, 214 lbs. forward out of St. John’s. The 21-year-old sophomore averaged 12.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 29 minutes per game this season for the Red Storm.
