Duke’s Rodney Hood to headline NBA Draft workout hosted by Sacramento Kings

Rodney Hood will headline a pre-draft workout hosted by the Sacramento Kings on Saturday. The Kings announced that the Duke forward will participate in a six-man workout that includes Kyle Casey (Harvard), Jarell Eddie (Virginia Tech), C.J. Fair (Syracuse), Joe Jackson (Memphis) and Xavier Thames (San Diego State).

Hood played just one season at Duke. He sat out the 2013-14 season after transferring from Mississippi State following his freshmen season.  In one year at Duke, Hood averaged 19.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists per 40 minutes a game. The 21-year-old small forward is currently ranked as a late lottery pick by most mock drafts.

The rest of the players participating in Saturday’s workout are potential late second-round to undrafted prospects. Thames is a local product who played his high school ball at Elk Grove High before playing one season at Washington State. Like Hood, he also sat out one season when he decided to transfer San Diego State.

This is the fourth workout the Kings will have conducted ahead of this year’s NBA Draft. The Kings previously hosted three separate workouts a week-and-a-half ago, bringing a handful of prospects worthy of their No. 8 pick. Marcus Smart and Noah Vonleh participated in group workouts while Aaron Gordon made a visit to Sacramento for an individual workout before Kings’ brass.
