This is not a test…
I repeat… this is NOT A TEST!!!
After fielding a question about the city, the Oklahoma City Thunder star was complimentary. Try not to freak out too much.
“I like the city a lot,” Durant said after a shootaround at the TD Garden. “It’s cold but they love sports here. It’s a family atmosphere I feel when I walk around the city. So yeah, I like it a lot.”
STOP FREAKING THE F OUT!!!
Too late.

If Durant goes to the Celtics then LeBron has to go to the Lakers. It’s only right.

Oh wait that last one was me… sorry…
This is an intriguing possibility that I will not allow to grow beyond that (unless I’m fishing for retweets on Twitter). I do think there’s a path for it to possibly, maybe, potentially happen. It would sort of be the free agency version of how Danny Ainge built the ’08 title team… get the big supporting player, then get the BIG FISH.
The big supporting player would be Al Horford, and the Celtics would have the room to get both of these guys with the combination of free agents leaving (Amir Johnson & Jonas Jerebko for sure… and maybe also Tyler Zeller and/or Jared Sullinger) and newly created cap space. The Celtics will have a lot of money to spend and, if acquired through free agency, the C’s can pitch these guys on playing with most of the core that has competed for home court and a 50 win season.
It’s a compelling pitch… especially from a Boston perspective: You (Al and Kevin) get to join an up-and-coming team with an All Star in Thomas, a sorta borderline All Star two-way guy in Crowder, a couple of young defensive monster in the backcourt, and some nice bench pieces… you get one of the best coaches around… and you get to be part of that Paul Pierce/KG love-fest that makes you an icon here forever if you win a title.
It’s compelling, but not automatic. Durant also noted how cold it is here, and who knows what other motivation these guys have. So who knows how effective this pitch will really be.
But until then, I’m just going to sit here dreaming of the possibility of this photoshop I made 9 years ago eventually becoming a reality.
