DVD Review: UFC: Ultimate Matt Hughes

Who is the best UFC welterweight fighter of all-time?  That answer seems to be a no-brainer right now: Georges St-Pierre, of course.  But a few, short years ago most would argue that Matt Hughes was the greatest 170 pounder ever.  Some still do, and argue the point in the recent DVD (and Blu-ray) release, UFC: Ultimate Matt Hughes.

Personally I’m not a huge fan of Matt Hughes – I respect him, for sure, but he just isn’t one of my personal favourites, that’s all.  Which speaks to the quality of Ultimate Matt Hughes that I can say that I really enjoyed watching this release.  It’s a double-disc collection (320 minutes) of Matt Hughes’ goodness: the first disc containing a documentary on his career, including interviews with the man himself and other MMA luminaries, as well as video highlights of all his pertinent UFC fights; and a second disc of bonus full fight videos.  All in all you get pretty much every second of Hughes’ career in the Octagon.
