Eagan is passionate about golf.

I enjoy golf. I go with Eric a few times a summer (though not yet this summer. If only we talked more, we could schedule a tee time), and I like to sample a few of the courses across the Twin Cities. It’s a good way to relax, spend some time outside, and is a really good excuse to own a flask.

Some people take the game too seriously. I don’t care to golf with my brother anymore, because he freaks out if he launches a ball into the next fairway, and then pouts for many holes after that. It’s unpleasant. You could say that the residents of my current home town of Eagan are among those people who do just that, take the game too seriously.

There is a plan in place to shut down a public course called Parkview and redevelop it as a neighborhood for some nice family homes. The course, obviously, isn’t the cash cow that the city needed it to be, and another solution needed to be found. Now, there are some people that liked the course, and they obviously were opposed to redevelopment. Why do I say that they may have taken things a little too seriously? Well, how about the letter someone sent to the city council:

ANY COUNCIL MEMBER VOTING FOR DEVELOPING PARVIEW [sic] WILL DIE!! YOU ARE ALL IN ON IT WITH THE DEVELPER [sic] !!

Oh. All right then. I’ve never been to Parkview, but I can’t believe it was THAT great. There’s other courses, buddy.
