Eagles Fantasy Football Appeal: Week 10

pink

QB Sam Bradford

Week 9 performance: 295 passing yards, 1 touchdowns pass, 0 INT(14.9 fantasy points)

ESPN Week 10 projection: 15.2 fantasy points

For the third time this season, Sam Bradford made it through a game without throwing an interception and in fact he lead the game-winning drive against the Cowboys in overtime so seamlessly. Bradford has an extremely favorable match up this week against a Dolphins defense, who has allowed quarterbacks to throw multiple touchdown passes in half their games played and they also allowed quarterbacks to throw for 200-plus yards in every game except for two. You should definitely start Bradford this week and I would rank as a borderline QB-1 with upside.

RB DeMarco Murray

Week 9 performance: 83 rushing yards, 1 TD, 78 receiving yards(22.1 fantasy points)

ESPN Week 10 projection: 14.6 fantasy points

DeMarco Murray had the last laugh against his former team, the Dallas Cowboys as Murray had a huge game with over 160 all purpose yards and a touchdown after being completely shutdown in the first meeting against them. Murray is a must-start this week again against a weak Dolphins run defense, who allow just over 22 points per game to running backs and have let up seven rushing touchdowns. He is a high-end RB-1 and expect another big game.

RB Ryan Mathews

Week 9 performance: 67 rushing yards, touchdown, 0 receiving yards(12.7 fantasy points)

ESPN Week 10 projection: 7.1 fantasy points

Ryan Mathews proved me wrong against Dallas because he was still able to be productive with very few opportunities and he found his way to the end zone once again. I think Mathews would make an interesting flex play this week against the Dolphins because as I mentioned before, they are not very good against the run and Mathews’ ability to create big plays, he won’t need many touches to make an impact.

RB Darren Sproles

Week 9 performance: 23 rushing yards, 3 receiving yards(2.6 fantasy points)

ESPN Week 10 projection: 5.7 fantasy points

Darren Sproles has completely disappeared from the Eagles offense and until you see any sign of stability with what Sproles’ role is, you should keep him on your bench. Also there doesn’t seem to be enough touches to go around anyway between having Murray and Mathews in front him in the pecking order.

WR Jordan Matthews

Week 9 performance: 9 receptions for 133 yards, touchdown(19.3 fantasy points)

ESPN Week 10 projection: 8.8 fantasy points

Jordan Matthews finally had a breakout game that everyone has been waiting for and couldn’t have come at a better time against the Cowboys. Matthews reeled in nine of 12 targets for 133 yards and the walk-off touchdown in overtime. Jordan Matthews has an excellent match up this week against Miami who has allowed ten touchdowns to wide receivers. You should definitely start Matthews this week because he and Sam Bradford are finally on the same page and they can be very dangerous.

WR Nelson Agholor Q

Week 9 performance: DNP

ESPN Week 10 projection: 4.7

Nelson Agholor status isn’t yet clear for Sunday’s game, but he did practice fully today, which is a good sign. If Agholor is healthy, I would not start because we have no idea what his usage will be and there is no encouraging numbers from previous games gives any confidence in playing him in any format. Maybe another week.

TE Zach Ertz

Week 9 performance: 5 receptions,  44 receiving yards(4.4 fantasy points)

ESPN Week 10 projection: 6.8 fantasy points

We are still waiting for Zach Ertz to have a breakout performance and this will not be the week. The Dolphins have been stingy on tight ends this year and have only allowed opposing tight ends three times against them. Stay away from Zach Ertz

Eagles Defense/Special Teams

Week 9 performance:27 points allowed, 1 interceptions, touchdown (9 fantasy points)

ESPN Week 10 projection: 8.3 fantasy points

The Cowboys put up more points than I expected with Matt Cassel operating thew offense, but the Eagles defense still put out a solid performance with nine points. They were able to get that pick-six to help elevate their score, but they still remain worth starting this week against an inconsistent Dolphins offense.

K Caleb Sturgis

Week 9 performance: 2/2 FG, 3/3 XPM(11 fantasy points)

ESPN Week 10 projection: 7.8  fantasy points

Caleb Sturgis continues to be solid and he connected on both of his field goal attempts against Dallas and put up 11 points. If you have to start him, then he isn’t a bad play, but I expect the Eagles to put a lot of points in this game so Sturgis may end up kicking a lot of extra points.
