Eagles Fantasy Football Appeal: Week 11

QB Sam Bradford Q

Week 10 performance: 236 passing yards, 1 touchdowns pass, 0 INT(13 fantasy points)

ESPN Week 11 projection: 0 fantasy points

Last week’s game against the Dolphins was ugly to say the least and to  make it worse, Sam Bradford injured his shoulder and got a concussion during the game. Bradford is going to sit out this Sunday’s match up vs the Buccaneers, but he could possibly miss more time. Mark Sanchez will take over the offense this week against Tampa Bay who have been weak against quarterbacks so he might be worth a look at in deeper leagues if you need a fill-in at quarterback.

RB DeMarco Murray

Week 10 performance: 61 rushing yards, 0 TD, 58 receiving yards(22.1 fantasy points)

ESPN Week 11 projection: 13.8 fantasy points

DeMarco Murray didn’t have as big of game as I thought he would against a soft Miami defense, but he did have over 100 all-purpose yards for the fourth time in five games. The only problem with Murray is his lack of scoring with him only having one touchdown in his last three games and he will have his work cut out for him against a Tampa Bay run defense who has been stingy of late. Because of the tough match up, Murray is an RB2 and should be a lock for double-digit points.

RB Ryan Mathews Q

Week 10 performance: 18 rushing yards, touchdown, 22 receiving yards(10 fantasy points)

ESPN Week 11 projection: 6.3 fantasy points

Ryan Mathews continues to turn his limited opportunities into gold, getting into the end zone for a third straight game and also putting up double-digit points in three consecutive games. Unfortunately, Mathews left last Sunday’s game against the Dolphins with a concussion and has yet to practice this week. With his status unknown and an unfavorable match up, I am comfortable leaving Mathews on the bench for this week.

RB Darren Sproles

Week 10 performance: 0 rushing yards, 34 receiving yards(3.4 fantasy points)

ESPN Week 11 projection: 5 fantasy points

Darren Sproles still barely exists in this Eagles offense and it perplexes me why. During the offseason, the Eagles talked about using him in the slot and moving Sproles around in the formation, but we’ve none to very little of that this year. Instead we have to deal with Miles Austin who is absolute dead weight on this team and has no business playing football. If the Eagles want to be more successful on offense, they should find ways to get Darren Sproles the ball because he has the big play capability that can change a game. Sproles could see an elevated role this Sunday vs the Tampa Bay if Ryan Mathews were to miss any time, but it’s not worth playing Sproles this week.

WR Jordan Matthews

Week 10 performance: 3 receptions for 21 yards(2.1 fantasy points)

ESPN Week 11 projection: 8.3 fantasy points

Jordan Matthews followed up his best fantasy performance of the year with a measly 3 catches for 21 yards and continues to be one of the biggest fantasy disappointments this year. He comes into another great match up against a Tampa Bay secondary that has allowed multiple touchdowns to wide receivers 3 games this year and has allowed receivers to catch 12 touchdowns passes. Matthews is worth starting week as a WR2 with some upside and his numbers could get better with Sanchez at QB because those two had a great connection last year.

WR Nelson Agholor

Week 10 performance: 3 catches for 32 yards

ESPN Week 11 projection: 4.5

Nelson Agholor saw his first game active vs the Dolphins since Week 5 and he put up okay numbers catching 3 passes for 32 yards. I’m still praying for him to become a bigger part of this offense because I am sick of relying on Miles Austin and Riley Cooper, who have done nothing but fail. Maybe a change in quarterback will help Agholor like it did Matthews last season and Agholor does have a good match up this week against the Buccaneers so this could be the week he breaks out. As for fantasy purposes, Agholor will be on your bench unless you are desperate.

TE Zach Ertz

Week 10 performance: 7 receptions,  68 receiving yards(6.8 fantasy points)

ESPN Week 11 projection: 7.1 fantasy points

Zach Ertz was so close to having a stellar fantasy performance, but had a touchdown negated because Riley Cooper wasn’t set on the play. Ertz’s numbers keep climbing, but we have yet to see anything groundbreaking. Things won’t change this week against Tampa Bay allowing only eight points per game to tight ends so stay away from Ertz.

Eagles Defense/Special Teams

Week 10 performance:20 points allowed, 0 interceptions (8 fantasy points)

ESPN Week 11 projection: 7.7 fantasy points

The Eagles defense hasn’t had any impact games lately since posting a 20-point performance against the Giants in week 6. They had a respectable 8 points last Sunday, but they did not force any turnovers or score a touchdown. Jameis Winston and the Buccaneer offense have taken care of the ball lately, but Eagles defense continues to be a steady play if you want a guaranteed eight points.

K Caleb Sturgis

Week 10 performance: 1/2 FG, 2/2 XPM(4 fantasy points)

ESPN Week 11 projection: 8  fantasy points

Caleb Sturgis had an off game missing a crucial field goal, but that wasn’t completely his fault because there was something funky about the snap and it seemed he had to rush the kick. If you are looking for someone to fill in as your kicker, Caleb Sturgis still wouldn’t be a bad option if you can’t find anyone better.
