Eagles Fantasy Football Appeal: Week 12

QB Sam Bradford Q

Week 11 performance: DNP

ESPN Week 12 projection: 0 fantasy points

Sam Bradford passed the NFL’s concussion protocol, but his status is still unknown for tomorrow vs the Lions. Keep in mind Bradford is still dealing with a shoulder sprain in his non-throwing shoulder so I would think the Eagles will go with Sanchez another week and not rush Sam back.

QB Mark Sanchez

Week 11 performance: 261 passing yards, 2 TD’s, 3 INT’s(16.4 fantasy points)

ESPN Week 12 projection: 15.8 fantasy points

Signs point toward Mark Sanchez getting the nod against the Lions tomorrow and if you’re looking for a quarterback, Sanchez is worth a look because he has a favorable matchup against a Lions defense that has allowed opposing quarterbacks to score at least 15 fantasy points in every game except this past week against the Raiders.

RB DeMarco Murray

Week 11 performance: 64 rushing yards, 0 TD, 7 receiving yards(7.1 fantasy points)

ESPN Week 12 projection: 16.1 fantasy points

DeMarco Murray failed to find the end zone once again and has scored a rushing touchdown once in his last four games. Granted it was a tough matchup for him and the Eagles fell behind early, but a touchdown was the only thing that could make it salvageable performance for fantasy owners. Lucky for Murray, the Lions defense has been extremely generous to running backs, allowing 12 rushing touchdowns and giving up double-digit fantasy points in every game except for one. This week he is a RB1 with a good amount of upside, basically start him.

RB Ryan Mathews O

Week 11 performance: DNP

ESPN Week 12 projection: 0 fantasy points

Ryan Mathews will sit again this week which open up more opportunities for Darren Sproles a second straight week.

RB Darren Sproles

Week 11 performance: 21 rushing yards, 38 receiving yards, TD(11.9 fantasy points)

ESPN Week 12 projection: 8.2 fantasy points

We finally had a Darren Sproles sighting this past week and fantasy owners everywhere rejoiced. Sproles find the end zone for the first time since Week 3 vs the Jets and he should have a lot of touches to do so again. As I mentioned with Murray, the Lions aren’t good against running backs, warranting Sproles for a serious flex consideration and you really need one big play to get the points you need.

WR Jordan Matthews

Week 11 performance: 4 receptions for 13 yards(1.3 fantasy points)

ESPN Week 12 projection: 8.4 fantasy points

Jordan Matthews had a terrible game vs Tampa Bay, but the matchup gets a little better this week. The Lions have a allowed a lot of receiving touchdowns and a good amount of yards to wide receivers. Right now Jordan Matthews would be a solid flex this week with a possibility of being a low-end WR2.

WR Nelson Agholor

Week 11 performance: 3 catches for 11 yards(1.1 fantasy points)

ESPN Week 12 projection: 4 fantasy points

Still waiting for Nelson Agholor to have a breakout game and this week could be it against a weak Lions secondary. With that being said though, you shouldn’t start Agholor because there is no prior evidence of success, but he could be a sneaky stash.

TE Zach Ertz O

Week 11 performance: 2 receptions,  12 receiving yards(1.2 fantasy points)

ESPN Week 12 projection: 0  fantasy points

Zach Ertz was knocked out of the game early last week vs Tampa Bay with a concussion and with the short turnaround, there is no shot of him playing tomorrow.

TE Brent Celek

Week 11 performance: 7 receptions, 79 yards(7.9 fantasy points)

ESPN Week 12 projection: 5.8

Brent Celek has been back on the map in the Eagles offense the past couple of weeks and with Zach Ertz sidelined with a concussion, Celek is in line to see more targets. The Lions have been okay against tight ends allowing eight touchdowns to the position this season, but the numbers are kind of inflated with a couple outlier performances. I would stay away from Celek this week unless you want to bank a touchdown.

Eagles Defense/Special Teams

Week 11 performance:45 points allowed, 1 Forced Fumble, 0 interceptions (-6 fantasy points)

ESPN Week 12 projection: 10.1 fantasy points

The Eagles defense point production keeps going down as of late, but against turnover prone Matthew Stafford, they are still worth starting this week. Expect them to force a couple of turnovers tomorrow and they may get you double-digit points if you’re lucky.

K Caleb Sturgis

Week 11 performance: 1/1 FG, 2/2 XPM(6 fantasy points)

ESPN Week 12 projection: 6.9  fantasy points

Caleb Sturgis hasn’t been many opportunities lately to kick field goals and since he can be unpredictable at times, you should stay away from him this week.
