Eagles could have interest in Mark Ingram

With the Philadelphia Eagles trading running back LeSean McCoy to the Buffalo Bills yesterday, they now have to find a running back to replace his production.

Their replacement could be in this free agent class as free agency begins in six days. According to Lyons Yellin of WWL-TV, he has heard rumblings of the Eagles being interested in New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram. Ingram is a soon-to-be free agent as his rookie contract with the Saints expires on Tuesday.

Ingram is a totally different back than McCoy as he is a north-south runner and is younger. He is 25-years-old and has only carried the ball 582 times over his four-year career. If the Eagles can sign Ingram then they will have an all Saints backfield as they traded for running back Darren Sproles last offseason. Sproles has been a great pickup for the Eagles thus far in the running game and special teams.

Last season with the Saints, Ingram had the best year of his career with 964 rushing yards on 226 carries and nine touchdowns. But the only thing that could keep Ingram out of Philadelphia is that Saints head coach Sean Payton has let it be known that he wants to keep him in New Orleans. That is going to be tough as currently, the Eagles have a projected $48.6 million in cap space to go out and spend.

If the Saints want to get into a bidding war with the Eagles, they will probably lose but in the NFL you can find another running back especially in the draft.
