Eagles lose multiple players for remainder of the season

Philadelphia Eagles v Arizona Cardinals

On Sunday, the Philadelphia Eagles suffered their fourth straight loss of the season to the Washington Professional Football Team 27-22.

However, the Eagles lost more than the game as they found out on Monday that multiple players are done for the reminder of the season. According to Dave Zangaro of CSNPhilly.com, long snapper Jon Dorenbos is done for the season as he underwent wrist surgery.

Then on Monday evening, the Eagles announced that rookie running back Wendell Smallwood and offensive lineman Matt Tobin are also joining Dorenbos on IR. Earlier in the day, Eagles head coach Pederson mentioned that Smallwood, Tobin, and safety Jaylen Watkins were all options to be placed on IR.

Smallwood and Tobin both have MCL sprains, while Watkins has a ruptured tendon in his finger. Although, with Smallwood being shut down, the Eagles are now down to two healthy running backs in Ryan Mathews and Kenjon Barner as Darren Sproles is in the NFL’s concussion protocol.

Finally, when it comes to the offensive line, there will be more reshuffling happening with three weeks left in the season with Tobin going down. Currently, rookie Halapoulivaati Vaitai is still dealing with an MCL sprain and Brandon Brooks missed his second game on Sunday in three weeks with an illness.
