Despite the current work stoppage among many veteran Eagles fan posters at PE.com’s “On The Inside” , their Gatekeeper-in-Exile, GK Brizer, has announced his annual Mach 10 Draft challenge will go on as scheduled. That’s a big deal to a lot of Eagles fans who may have been worrying the Mach 10 event would disappear during Brizer’s self-imposed exile.
We’ll cover the event as it unfolds here at Eagles Eye…and at the same time, we certainly hope PE.com can arrange to reconstitute a forum room for Brizer and his enlightened Bored which meets the GK’s standards of freedom of speech and expression…a special room for mature Bird-brains only who choose to engage in tackle-football-posting, as opposed to the current kiddie-flag-rules format change. The Mach 10 belongs on PE.com.
Meanwhile, here’s another independent site you may find interesting as a source of pre-Draft speculation: Eagles Addict. Dave Stoessel puts out a nice selection of prospect reviews and original content. Today he’s got a nice little profile on offensive linemen who are NOT named Carimi—-i.e., Brandon Fusco from Slippery Rock, and USC’s Tyron Smith—who is rumored to possibly be visiting the Eagles this week. He also profiles Stephen Paea :
Stephen Paea is moving up higher on my own Eagles prospect list….6-1, 300, Oregon State, dynamic Defensive Tackle…but coming off a knee injury which may just allow him to fall to the Eagles…and we know how Reid likes to gamble in the later rounds on rehabbing great prospects. The Eagles have brought Paea in for a visit. Of course, as Dave Stoessel points out, that could mean anything…
Paea had his pro day on March 31st and indicated that his knee is about 85-90% healthy. He did run the 40 and recorded a time of 5.15 which isn’t bad for a DT with a gimpy knee. Last season Paea recorded 45 tackles, 10 TFL’s, 4 FF’s (forced fumbles), and 6 sacks. One of his best attributes is his strength as he has been known to bench press 500 lbs and squat 600 lbs.

The draft should be viewed with both quantity and amplitude in mind. The unknown factors could tip the scales,…but it’s still speculative in the end. Control does not equal success. The key caveat,..the ultimate reason why these negos seem to be going nowhere,..is the simple fact that neither adversary is homogeneous. The formerly known as NFLPA is a fragmented group, with different needs and agendas,..barely “united” under the present de facto dikhead,.de soto. The owners are hardly much better,..but at least their membership is much smaller with less differences. Truth be told,..as I hear it, at least one team made a whopping profit of 6 million last year…. and How much did Peyton make?,…He may be suing,..but I frankly doubt that he truly wants to. At this point,..the public appearance of solidarity is germaine to their purported cause of fairness. So,..when someone axes me what side I’m on,…I retort back,..how many sides are there in reality? So,…the goal is simply to name as many of our DRAFT picks.Various strategies have been used. You are allowed any 10 picks,….thus the name. You may use less,..but that would be stupid. Some have tried to slip in 11,..but they were caught!..Yes,.one was me. The prize,.besides bragging rights here,….an all expense trip to JB’s ranch for a tour (all you can eat) and sleepover.
