Round 1, Pick 2: Carson Wentz, QB
After making the trade up to #2 yesterday, I think everyone thinks this will be the pick now. Carson Wentz has the potential to be the franchise Quarterback for this team. It seems the staff and front office have a lot of confidence in Carson Wentz. Wentz can tear up defenses when he’s given enough time in the pocket, but he also isn’t afraid to leave the pocket and scramble for positive yards downfield. Wentz is a great talent, but many people are skeptical about drafting him because of the level of competition he plays while at North Dakota State University. However, over the years there have been plenty of stars come from the FCS and division 2 levels, so I don’t think that matters all that much. Wentz is ready to jump to the next level, and I applaud the Eagles for taking this chance on a possible franchise quarterback.
Round 3, Pick 79: Kolby Listenbee, WR
Kolby Listenbee can be a very productive wide receiver for the Eagles. He has great speed and can help stretch the field. He will be a great addition to the wide receiver corps. Listenbee will blend really well with Jordan Matthews and Zach Ertz. He will help stretch the field and take pressure off of the run game.
Round 5, Pick 153: Joe Dahl, OL
Joe Dahl has the ability to become one the better offensive lineman in this draft. If he falls to the Eagles this will be a solid pick. The Eagles seem to be very interested in him. He has visited the Novacare Complex and has had a workout with the team. Dahl will really help bolster the relatively weak offensive line that the Eagles currently possess.
Round 5, Pick 164: Daniel Lasco, RB
I believe Lasco is a very underrated running back. Teams will be very sorry that they missed out on him. Lasco has a great cutback and 2nd gear to get back the tackle box. This former California running back shows pretty good promise, and will be a solid NFL player.
Round 6, Pick 188: Daryl Worley, CB
Daryl Worley has had a visit with the Eagles. He is a very good corner back, but his off-field issues are what hurts his stock. I do think the Eagles will take the risk and draft him. If the Eagles can get him to focus on football, he will do well in the NFL. Last season, this Philadelphia native recorded 6 interceptions, 12 pass breakups, and was awarded first team all-conference for his stellar play at West Virginia. I’m sure it has been his dream for sometime to play for the Eagles, and that dream may become reality very soon for Worley.
Round 7, Pick 233: Pearce Slater, OT
Pearce Slater is a big boy. Standing at 6’7″ and weighing 329 pounds, this offensive tackle is shockingly very quick. He is a raw talent. If we can develop him well he can be a very solid pick and will help out the offensive line in the future. Slater is one of the better players at San Diego State, and has worked his ass off to get to where he is today. He’s got a great work ethic, which could help him become a successful NFL player.
Round 7, Pick 251: Nick Kwiatkoski, LB
The Eagles have interest in Kwiatkoski, and for good reason. He stands at 6’2″ and weighs 231 pounds. Kwaitkoski is a smart football player who sees the field very well. He’s the heart and soul of the West Virginia defense. He’s led them in tackles in each of the last three seasons.
This is my first mock draft, but there will be more. Stay tuned as we get closer to draft day. We will keep you up to date on any moves the Eagles may make, and we will be doing more mock drafts to simulate the upcoming 2016 NFL draft.
