Eagles open to trading Desean Jackson

Less than two years after signing a 5 year $54 million dollar contract with the Eagles, Desean Jackson publicly stated he felt he deserved more money. Now it appears the Eagles may have heard enough from the star wide out. The Eagles are not shopping Jackson but have been fielding phone calls with interested teams. Among those teams are several Super Bowl contenders that could use the assistance of the speedy WR including the New England Patriots and the San Francisco 49ers. Adding Jackson could keep either team in contention with the Seahawks and Broncos, who have been reloading on talent all month.

The only reason half the teams in the league are not on the phone with the Eagles’ front office is that Jackson comes with a pricey $10.5 million cap hit and a less then stellar reputation. If a team has the cap room they should seriously consider pulling the trigger due to the fact that Jackson’s trade value is probably no more than a 3rd or 4th round pick.

Other teams that could be potential landing spots for Jackson if the Eagles decide to move forward with a trade could be the New York Jets and the Oakland Raiders. Also never rule out the shocking inter-divisional trades that the NFC East has provided in years past. The Redskins and Eagles have a history of trading big names together and Dan Snyder will do anything to help his quarterback RGIII  and Jackson would certainly do just that.

The odds of the Eagles actually go through with a trade that will send one of their best weapons away is unlikely but after a free agency that included the likes of Demarcus Ware, Jared Allen, Julius Peppers anything is possible.
