The Philadelphia Eagles on paper have a great group of wide receivers with DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin, Jason Avant, Riley Cooper, and Damaris Johnson but it does not mean they cannot upgrade at the position. According to CSNPhilly.com, Rams free agent wide receiver Danny Amendola is in the Eagles plan.
If you remember, the Eagles had Amendola on their roster back in 2009 but never made it into a regular season game. But from that point on, Amendola has become one of the best slot receivers in the NFL.
Last season, Amendola especially proved that he could make plays and make multiple catches. Against the Washington Redskins, Amendola had 15 catches for 160 yards and then against the San Francisco 49ers he had 11 catches for 102 yards slowly becoming Rams quarterback Sam Bradford’s favorite target.
What makes this intriguing was when Amendola first went to the Rams; Pat Shurmur who is now the Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator was the Rams offensive coordinator. The only red flag that could hurt Amendola is can he stay healthy for a 16 game season. If Amendola can prove that he can stay healthy for a full regular season and possibly into the playoffs he can help the Philadelphia Eagles in the receiving game big time as they revamp their offense with Chip Kelly behind the helm.
