The Philadelphia Eagles had a chance at winning the NFC East, but unfortunately fell short late in the season. Nonetheless, they can at least make up for it by closing the season strong in Week 17 this Sunday. The New York Giants may be the weaker team on paper, but they won’t go away quietly when they host the Eagles in the season finale, as they try to end the year with a fourth straight win.
This battle would carry much more weight if Philly had won any of their last three games, but even with zero playoff implications, Giants tickets are still a healthy $238.61 on average this week ($86 to get in). Philly and New York are both eliminated from playoff contention, but fans should still be able to witness a heated rivalry sound off in the Big Apple. While pride is the biggest thing on the line, both teams will want to close the year out strong, potentially giving Giants and Eagles tickets a little more value than meets the eye.
Eagles fans looking to attend the game can spend either Saturday or Sunday night in a cheap hotel courtesy of Hipmunk.com. A year after winning the NFC East and getting back to the playoffs, the Eagles once again looked to be in control of their destiny. Philly lost quarterback Nick Foles to a broken collarbone near mid-season, however, and eventually went off the rails. The Iggles enter their season finale with three straight losses and at this point just want to finish the year on a high note. The most difficult part to swallow? A win over the Giants would give them a nice 10-6 record and they still won’t crack the playoff roster.
As much of a bummer as missing out on the playoffs is, there is still a sense of pride to be had with a 10-6 season. Philly could also grab a season sweep of the G-Men, who they dominated in a 27-0 shutout win earlier in the year. It will be Mark Sanchez under center this time, but it will be interesting to see if Philly’s defense remains as nasty after sacking Giants quarterbacks a total of eight times in their first clash.
