Eagles Release Former Pro-Bowl CB Nnamdi Asomugha

UCSD Trident

After much speculation and even more falsified rumors, it’s officially happened with 10 minutes left before the free agency period begins. The Eagles will relieve former Pro-Bowl corner back Nnamdi Asomugha of his duties, effective immediately. One cannot honestly be surprised by this move. Soon as the news broke social media blew up and this is only the beginning. It is honestly a win/win situation for all involved. The Eagles are well under the cap as is after releasing DT Cullen Jones as well as DT Mike Patterson.

It’s obvious the team is looking for that one player to come in and help Chip Kelly revamp this defense.  A plethora of top tier players are available  in this season’s free agency class.  After two up and down seasons, the Philadelphia Eagles era of Nnamdi has stopped and not a moment too soon. After a season where he only recorded one interception and 55 combined tackles its time for him to step away and find a new team. The Eagles still owe him about four million dollars in guaranteed money. A cornerback once filled with so much promise now is no longer apart of the team. The nightmare of watching him get beat by even the most mediocre of wide receivers is no more. Most say the defensive system here in Philadelphia never really fit his style of play. As Nnamdi rebuilds his name, the Eagles begin to rebuild this defense.
