Eagles Release Jason Babin

Eagles Release Jason Babin

In a shocking move, late this afternoon, the Philadelphia Eagles released two time Pro Bowl defensive end Jason Babin. Babin was not having a good season at all as he has played in all 11 games but only had accumulated 5.5 sacks. That is a drastic change from last season, where he had 18 sacks.

The 32 year old defensive end was signed in the summer of 2011 aka the “DreamTeam Summer” where he got a five year, $29 million contract. This season, Babin has seen his playing time decrease as Brandon Graham is starting to get more reps at the defensive end position.

In a statement released by Andy Reid he said, “We appreciate everything that Jason has given this team over the last couple of years.” Reid also continued by saying, “By releasing him today, this gives us an opportunity to give more playing time to some of younger guys in the defensive line rotation.”

So now the transformation begins as this Eagles team is being shaken up with more young players getting to play and people in management getting fired. Don’t expect this to be the last move made by the Eagles during the rest of this season.
