Eagles, Rodney McLeod agree to five-year deal

.

The Eagles are continuing to roll in free-agency, and former Rams safety Rodney McLeod is the latest player to sign with the Eagles. According to ESPN, the deal is for five years and worth $37 million with $17 million guaranteed.

With safety Walt Thurmond looking to be on the move after just one year in Philadelphia, McLeod satisfies the Eagles’ need to sure up their defensive backfield.

The 25 year-old safety had a career season in 2015, with one pick, one fumble recovery, three forced fumbles, and 81 tackles.

Before signing with the Rams in 2012, McLeod played four years at Virginia where he racked up 190 tackles, six interceptions, and three forced fumbles. He then went on to sign with the Rams as an undrafted free agent, and led the Rams in special teams tackles in his rookie year.

Having a player that can not only fill the free safety role, but also add to the Eagles’ dominant special teams will be vital heading into next season.

Stay tuned as 4 p.m. approaches and more deals are announced.
