Last week’s re-singing of Sam Bradford did not mean that the Eagles’ quarterback situation was completely resolved. The Eagles made another big splash at the position to day, as ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports they signed former Kansas City Chiefs backup Chase Daniel to a reported three-year deal.
Daniel was one of the names to float around while the Eagles were ironing out their quarterback situation. In two starts, Daniel went 1-1. Before serving as Alex Smith’s backup, he spent three seasons behind future hall-of-fame quarterback Drew Brees in New Orleans.
Having spent time with then offensive coordinator for the Chiefs and now Eagles head coach Doug Pederson, Daniel should be accustomed to Pederson’s leadership.
Now that Daniel is on board, it seems unlikely that backup quarterback Mark Sanchez will be in the Eagles plans for 2016.
As with all moves that have been announced thus far, nothing is official until 4 p.m. ET when the new league-year begins.
