After trading high-priced cornerback Byron Maxwell to the Miami Dolphins on Monday afternoon. The Philadelphia Eagles decided to act quickly and fill a need in the secondary.
Today, the Philadelphia Eagles announced that they’ve come to terms on a two-year deal with free agent cornerback Leodis McKelvin.

Earlier in the day, it was reported by NFL’s Media Ian Rapoport that the McKelvin was visiting the Eagles today and that a deal could come quickly. Rapoport reports that the two-year deal is worth $6 million.
The signing of McKelvin should come as no surprise as the Eagles fill a position of need and he gets to reunite with his former defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, who coached him in Buffalo. Under Schwartz in 2014, McKelvin had the best year of his career with a career-high four interceptions to go along with eight pass deflections and 45 tackles.
This past season, McKelvin had a down year only playing in nine games, with 25 tackles, nine pass deflections and two interceptions. Hopefully, the 30-year old corner can recapture his stellar 2014 play under Schwartz this time around.
Finally, it is also not out of the realm of possibility that McKelvin could start as it’s not a guarantee that Nolan Carroll will be back.
