Less than 24 hours after the most embarrassing game of the Chip Kelly era, the Philadelphia Eagles decided to make a minor change. Recently signed quarterback Stephen Morris was released in order to make room for quarterback Thad Lewis. Morris was signed on September 6 after the Eagles released quarterback Tim Tebow. Morris was inactive for both of the Eagles’ games this year.

The 30-year-old Thaddeus Lewis last played for the Houston Texans in 2014. The last time Lewis saw action was in 2014 with the Buffalo Bills. He started five games compiling a 2-3 record. He completed a pedestrian 59.2 percent of the 157 passes he attempted. He threw for 1092 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions in his six total appearances.

Lewis went undrafted following the 2010 NFL Draft and was then signed by the Rams. He was later claimed off of waivers by the Browns before being waived in 2013. The Detroit Lions claimed Lewis off of waivers in May 2013 but was subsequently traded to the Bills in the summer of 2013.

Thad Lewis will be nothing more than the third string quarterback for the Eagles. It is not out of the realm of possibility that he will see playing time if the offensive line continues to fail at blocking any formidable pass rush.
