Eagles Soar To New Heights

What we saw with Boston College and Howard was something that will be haunting the Bison but a great start to go 2-0 for the Eagles. A absolute annihilation, Boston College beat Howard 76-0 to end 2 games of playing FCS schools. Boston College owned every statistic in this game from start to beginning.

1st Quarter- Boston College gave the impression to Howard that they were winners from the first play of the game which was a sack. After Howard had a 3 and out on the first drive and punted on 4th down, Boston College struck first with 13:11 as RB Tyler Rouse (junior) ran in for a 3 yd run to start the game off 7-0. Exactly 83 seconds later, freshman LB Connor Strachan made a pick six off Howard QB Kalen Johnson to make the score 14-0. At 10:34, RB Tyler Rouse ran in a 5 yd run to extend it to 20 after BC attempted a two point conversion but failed. . His tag team partner RB Jon Hilliman 4 minutes later ran in another 5 yd run to make the lead to 27. Tyler Rouse and freshman QB/ATH Jeff Smith both shared rushed touchdowns to end the 1st quarter leading by 41. Tyler Rouse had 4 carries for 32 yds and 3 TD’s in the 1st quarter alone.

2nd Quarter- RB Richard Wilson caught a 7 yd pass with less two minutes in the quarter for a touchdown which continued the barrage and was extending the lead to 48-0. 7 minutes later, RB Marcus Outlow blew past the defense and scored on a 32 yd run. Then QB Troy Flutie completed a pass to senior fullback Sean Burke for a 10 yd score to extend up to 62 points. This was the breaking point because BC and Howard agreed to speed up the game by shortening the 3rd and 4th quarter down to 10 minutes.

3rd Quarter- Jeff Smith ran for a 1 yd score to create a very large spread 68-0.

4th Quarter- Smith ran for his 3rd touchdown as he ran 27 yds for the TD to put Howard out of their misery 76-0.

This is the 2nd largest blowout in BC history- BC played Saint Anselm in 1941 and creamed them 78-0.

Another fun fact is they kept Howard down to 11 yds of offense in the entire game! Lowest ever for a team in 20 years and this is a BC record.
