I think I speak for every single Eagles fan when I say this: Grow up Sam Bradford.
The Eagles just drafted a QB who you should help groom. Carson Wentz is counting on you to show him the ropes. You are not being a good teammate at all. I know this situation is a weird one for you, as I saw this analogy on twitter: It is like your boss telling you to train the next employee who will eventually take your position in the company. However, the Eagles have given you the chance to succeed. Howie Roseman and Doug Pederson have insured you that your job is safe. You sitting out right now only hurts yourself. Maybe the Eagles will take away your starting spot now. Does Sam Bradford does better? As a person I would say yes. He wants to have a stable job and be able to play for the same team year after year.
If you want to be a franchise guy, you have to prove it. News flash: you’ve done NOTHING to prove it. The Eagles are giving you the chance this season. As of right now you hold the fourth worst QBR in the NFL among Quarterbacks. With that being said, those other three QBS are making about 3 million a year. You’re making 22 Million. What is there to complain about? First off, when you and your agent Tom Condon signed the contract should you have known the Eagles were going to explore other options. However, you still will be making 22 million to play about as average as a QB gets. All you have to do is come in for a season and compete. Afterward, you get a 22 million dollar check and you can move on. If you ask me, that is a pretty good gig. If you play well it’s a bonus at this point. More teams will like you and want you if you do, and hopefully you can go play out a nice career somewhere else. If you play well, it will also help the Eagles get more in return for you. It is a win-win situation for both parties if you play well. You get $22 million, another potential starting job, and the Eagles have a (hopefully) well groomed QB in Wentz, plus whatever we get in return for you.
Also, when your agent came out and said there is no real competition he’s right. YOU ARE THE STARTER THIS SEASON. Period. All you have to do is show up and you will start. What is so wrong with playing in Philadelphia for a year and making $22 million? You have no leverage at all. Currently no one wants you right now. All you can do is grow up and play for the Eagles this season. While you are at it you can help groom Carson Wentz if you decide to stop being such an asshole. It is only fair, the Eagles need to get their money’s worth. So, Sam Bradford, please grow the hell up.
Soon enough you will be able to leave, and we can all breathe a sigh of relief. Until then, stop acting like you’re all that, and start acting like you’re a seasoned veteran who is here to help the team to the best of your ability.
